Since qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2002 I have worked within a variety of different practices including night clinics, this has given me the opportunity to experience a wide range of veterinary medicine from a routine neutering to emergency trauma treatment. I have also gained my A1 certificate, which allows me to assess student veterinary nurses within practices, as well as completing short courses on animal behaviour and nutrition.
I would like to expand my knowledge within animal behaviour as this subject fascinates me, owning a dog who has separation anxiety has invoked me to study this subject further. I would also like to gain a surgical certificate, which would allow me to perform very minor surgery procedures.
Rabbits and guinea pigs were my favourite childhood animals. Having them as pets drove my motivation for animal welfare and my determination for a career within veterinary medicine. My family have always been supportive throughout every step of my career.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my young son, this normally involves glue or paint of some kind. I am extremely lucky to have a wide network of friends, with whom we spend time at the cinema, dancing and eating.
